manhattan municipal building

At the intersection of Chambers and Centre street, you'll find the Manhattan Municipal Building. The Civic Fame is the name of the gilded statue at the top of the building. At 25 feet tall, Wikipedia says it's the second largest statue in Manhattan. It's pretty easy to spot from downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn.

There's two reasons why I like this building. The first, it was home to WNYC from 1922-2008. Second, in Ghostbusters, the team is leaving this building on their way to fight Gozer!

is it spring yet?

Apparently not. Yesterday morning on the 7. One of the fun parts of living on an elevated train line in New York is trying not to slip onto the tracks during inclement weather. As you can see, the platform isn't so big, and it's covered in packed snow.

I heard a lot of people got snow days yesterday. Lucky you!

snowy city hall park

City Hall Park, New York City. I don't really like this photo, it's way too busy. But I didn't choose it for that. I've walked through this park a lot, and I'm pretty familiar with this area being that I've worked around here for almost 10 years (with a short unplanned break). I went to take a photo of the lights around the fountain, which are real flames by the way. What I like about this photo though, is that I was able to get my office building dead center behind the fountain, my brother's old building to the left of mine, and my best friend's building, in black, behind. Oh, and the woolworth building is to the far right too.

I learned a few things about my building from the wiki entry. Apparantly its current status is that it's been "converted to residential units." If it's true, then it's news to me...

chihuly - ny botanical garden

I ran out of things to post. Here's one from October 2006, when Dale Chihuly (wiki) exhibited glass scuptures all around the garden.
